"Why am I still doubting God's goodness when I have seen Him provide in a multitude of ways?" A question I still ask when fear & anxiety try to reign over my mind. I fall into traps of my walk with Jesus morphing into something that resembles a checklist..
I was malnourished, not in the physical sense but spiritual. Checking off my quiet time for temporary satisfaction only gave space for true hunger pains to build up. A never ending cycle that causes paralysis and a sense of 'not belonging' in my relationship with Jesus. Adding onto the already chaotic schedule of day to day life, I was starving for more but too weak to reach.
We have a Father that has invited us to the table to feast on His daily bread. Manna. Not only what satisfies the craving but sustains us in this temporary but broken home. When we treat our relationship with Jesus as a checklist we merely skimming the surface of what He has for us, we are merely eating the crumbs when a feast is what He's offering. This is because when we are living in a cycle of overwhelm, survival, and chaos we are desperate for a quick fix. It isn't until we pause, reflect, and sit palms open at the table of the Father that we are able to accept such a beautiful gift.
"We all know what it's like to be hungry, and we all know what it's like to consume a meal that just doesn't satisfy. The Bible uses this powerful food metaphor because its authors were zealous to alert you to the fact that there is a deeper hunger within you than the physical hunger with which you are so familiar. Yes, your body hungers to be filled, but your soul hungers even more. This Is true for all of us, and because it is, every person who has ever lived has worked to satisfy the hunger of his soul in some way. The important thing to know is that there are only two banquet tables from which you can eat; the costly, unsatisfying table of the physical world or the soul satisfying table of the Lord of abundant mercy and grace"
